William Langford is the Chief Compliance Officer at GE Capital. He is responsible for leading the global compliance organization and overseeing all aspects of the company’s compliance program.
Before joining GE Capital in 2015, William was the Global Head of Compliance Architecture and Strategy at Citigroup, responsible for leading compliance risk analytics and assessments, regulatory and data governance and global compliance strategy. Prior to that, he spent six years at JP Morgan Chase in various compliance roles, including Global Head of Compliance and Head of Enterprise Financial Crimes Compliance.
Earlier, he served for three years as the Associate Director for the Regulatory Policy and Programs Division of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. In this capacity, he oversaw the Bank Secrecy Act and regulatory, compliance and enforcement functions for the Agency. Before joining FinCen, William served as the Senior Advisor to the General Counsel of the U.S. Department of the Treasury for two years. While there, he was focused on the implementation of the anti-terrorism and anti-money laundering provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act, including the drafting of regulations implementing these provisions. William began his career as a litigation lawyer with the DC firm of Williams & Connolly and the Boston firm of Choate, Hall & Stewart.
William holds a BS in Mathematics from Hastings College where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned his JD at the University of Texas.
