Mark W. Midkiff is the Global chief risk officer for GE Capital reporting directly to the CEO for GE Capital and the GE Board of Directors Risk Committee.
Mark oversees all aspects of GE Capital’s Global Risk Management, and leads the firm’s risk assessment and appetite strategies, oversees the development of strong risk governance structures and drives organizational and cultural change. Mark is also a member of the GE Capital Board of Directors.
Before joining GECC, Mark was chief risk officer for MUFG Union Bank, N.A. He provided overall risk management leadership for the Americas including Union Bank, Bank of Tokyo and MUFG Securities. Prior to that, Mark served as vice chairman and chief risk officer for UnionBanCal Corporation.
He joined MUFG Union Bank after a 25-year career with Wachovia Corporation, where he served as executive vice president and chief risk officer of the General Banking Group beginning in 2005. In this position he was responsible for establishing a comprehensive risk management framework and providing strategic direction for the credit portfolio and special assets teams. From 2002 to 2005, he was chief risk officer of the bank’s Real Estate Financial Services division. He served as commercial real estate line of business leader from 1998 to 2002.
Mark has a Bachelor of Science degree in business from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
