Barry O’Byrne is CEO of GE Capital International Holdings Limited. He was appointed to this role in August 2016.
Prior to his current role Barry was the Chief Operations Officer for GE Capital International, where he was responsible for Operations, Technology, Strategic Initiatives and the Simplification strategy of GE Capital’s Commercial and Consumer finance businesses in over 20 markets; a position he held from 2013.
Barry joined GE from Citicorp in 1998 in an operational role and proceeded to take on a number of positions with increasing responsibility, including Head of Operations for GE Money Ireland in 2001. Barry then worked in GE Money UK on new product launches before moving back to Ireland in 2004 to take on a commercial leadership role in GE Money Ireland. In 2006 he was appointed acting CEO for GE Money Ireland, and was promoted to CEO of GE Money Italy in 2007, where he led Global Banking’s Italian consumer finance business. From 2010 to 2012 Barry was CEO of GE Money Bank France & DOMs, where he oversaw the transformation of the business, which provided customers with a broad range of lending and saving products.
Barry serves on boards in Italy, France and the UK and is an active supporter of GE’s diversity initiative.
Barry holds a B.A. degree in Business Studies and French from the University of Limerick, Ireland.
Barry and his wife have three daughters and reside in London, UK.
