Andrew Bull is General Counsel for GE Capital. He was appointed to this role in September 2016.
Prior to his current role, Andrew was Chief Legal Counsel for GE Capital International, a position he held from 2014. In this role, he was responsible for all aspects of legal risk management across the group’s commercial and consumer finance operations in over 20 markets across EMEA and Asia Pacific.
Andrew was born in Durban, South Africa. He graduated from the University of Cape Town with a bachelor of commerce in 1992 and an LLB degree in 1995. He completed his articles at MacCallums Attorneys in Cape Town and qualified as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa. Following his move to the United Kingdom he was also admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. He practised in London as a solicitor for Clifford Chance LLP where he advised on general banking and acquisition finance transactions. He also gained experience working at the investment banking firm of DKB International.
In 2001 he joined the UK business of GE Consumer Finance as senior legal counsel responsible for corporate and commercial transactions. In 2005 he was appointed as head of the business development legal team responsible for M&A for GE Money EMEA. During the following four years he advised on a wide range of acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures and dispositions across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Since 2009 Andrew has held a variety of General Counsel roles including GE Capital Global Banking, Western Europe, Russia and Latvia (2009-2011), GE Capital European Mortgage and Restructuring Group (2011-2013) and the Strategic Ventures and Restructuring Group of GE Capital International (2013-2014).
Andrew has also held various non-executive board positions in the Netherlands, Latvia, Russia, Korea, the Czech Republic and Spain and currently serves on the supervisory board of Bank BPH in Poland.
Andrew lives near Guildford in the United Kingdom with his wife and three children.
