Empowering Women

Empowering Women Watch Now

Banking on Women Program, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Banking on Women™ is GE Capital’s community program that seeks to empower disadvantaged women by providing female entrepreneurs with the knowledge and resources to create business opportunities for themselves and their families. Since 2008, Banking on Women has helped over 32,000 women in nine countries get the business expertise and resources they need to run their small businesses.

GE Capital has partnered with Foundation for International Community Assistance (FINCA), helping the microfinance organization to become financially self-sufficient and to support a new line of Shariahcompliant products in Jordan, as well as provide restructuring loans for women in Haiti.

In July 2010, GE Capital launched Banking on Women™’s first U.S. program in Salt Lake City. With the support and advice from their teachers, mentors, and classmates, many of the Banking on Women participants have already been able to grow their businesses. Working with the Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund and Westminster College, GE Capital is now recruiting its second class of Banking on Women™ participants.
